Mystland: Elemental Werewolf (Discarded)This is a featured page

Prologue
My name is Angelina Rodney, daughter of Wilbert and Louisa Rodney. At this time I was five years old and a bit short for my age. I had bronze colored hair and bright, green eyes. I lived in Fort Worth, Texas in the United States of America. I was all this until the scientists came. They kidnapped me and took me to a secret lab somewhere out in the middle of the pacific ocean. For years they experimented on me, turning me into something I had never imagined. Now I'm a fifteen-year-old werewolf. My green eyes were no longer green but blue. I'm not sure how it happened. Something mixed in with one of the serums perhaps?
My wolf form is brown with gray mixed in here and there. I can change into a wolf at will, or would be able to if they took this color off me. Something the scientists did gave me power over all the elements though there are limits. I'm not sure of them but somehow I just know there are limits. I guess it's some kind of instinct I have. The strange thing is the scientists schooled me. I can't understand why but they did. I actually advanced faster than an average child my age would. I'm already finished with what you would call high school. I'm not sure how I did it but I heard the scientists talking about some kind of “intelligence serum”. That must be what they used on me. The question is, why bother? I'm just a test subject. This is my story.

Chapter One
The day they took me was just like any other. I was at the park playing hide-and-seek with my friends. It all happened so quickly. One moment I was hiding behind a bush from Lily who was it and the next a hand was covering my mouth and someone was carrying me away. I heard my mother screaming. The man pulled out a gun and held it to my head. He said if anyone tried to follow I was dead. I saw my mother as I was carried away. She was scared. That wasn't right. Mom was supposed to be strong. I had been fine up until that moment, but when I saw that scared look in her eyes I started crying. Somehow I knew there was nothing she could do. At that moment I knew I would never see her again.

A loud bang woke me up. I blinked and looked through the bars of my cage. That's right, I said cage. They normally kept me in my wolf form so I guess they thought a cage suited me better. Besides, it was easier than giving me an entire room.
The bang had caused by the door slamming open. A man with black hair and blue eyes ran in. I had seen him quite often around the lab. He was about twenty five and was about five and half feet tall. The alarms started a few seconds after he opened the door. He glanced behind him than rushed over to my cage.
I'm getting you out of here,” he said. “It isn't right what they're doing to you.”
I stared at him. I hadn't thought anyone at the lab cared about me yet here was this man helping me to escape. He pulled a ring of keys out of the pocket of his white lab coat and unlocked the cage. I jumped out and was about to dash out the door when he grabbed me by my collar. I looked at him startled. The collar was made of metal. It was used to keep me under control. As long as I was wearing that color they could make me do almost anything. I say almost because they couldn't force me to move they. But they could do a lot with it still. They could put me to sleep, wake me up, and make me change forms. They used it whenever they wanted to test one of their experiments they had done on me. Now this man was taking the color off. I let out a sigh as he slipped it off.
We went through the lab at a run. Often we had to duck into a side room as guards ran past. After about ten minutes we made it out. Zero, the man who was helping me, had told me that we were going to take one of the helicopters and fly out of here. When we got to the landing pad we stopped dead in our tracks. There were guards everywhere. A few of them had net launchers, probably to catch me with, but most had guns. Guns with which they would kill Zero if they got the chance. I wasn't about to give it to them. Fire shot out of my mouth aimed straight at the nearest guard. He rolled out of the way and fired his gun, missing Zero by a millimeter. I ducked down and went between Zero's legs than came back up with him on my back. He must have understood what I was doing because he held on as tightly as he could without pulling my hair out. I dashed straight into the guards breathing fire the entire way. They all jumped out of the way. They wouldn't shoot as long as Zero was on my back because they might shoot me by accident and if they valued their jobs, which they obviously did, they would do all they could to keep me alive. A few nets came our way but I saw them long before they reached us and jumped out of the way. Once we had reached a helicopter Zero slid off my back and climbed in. I jumped in after him and he closed the door. I shifted into human form and turned around to close the door when I realized this was a type of helicopter that didn't have doors. That wasn't good. Zero apparently knew how to fly and he started it up. The guards started shooting again but the bullets bounced off the bullet proof windows. I decided to stay out of Zero's way as the helicopter lifted off the ground. We had only gotten a few feet into the air when one of the guards with a net launcher decided to try to get me again. He missed and the net got tangled in the propellers. The helicopter started spinning in circles and flew straight toward one of the other helicopters. I fell through the door moments before impact. Both helicopters exploded and debris was everywhere. I wanted to go get Zero but I knew he couldn't have survived that explosion. I shifted back into my wolf form and took off across the cement. Nets were launched but they either missed or I dodged them. I kept running even after I reached the forest. I wanted to get as far away as possible.

Chapter Two
I ran well into the night and would have kept going if I hadn't reached the edge of the island, if you could call it that. I was stunned by what I saw. The "island" was approximately one mile below sea level and what's more it was in the middle of a giant whirlpool. The swirling water came up short of the island by about one hundred feet and fell into a deep, dark chasm that I couldn't see the bottom of.
I stared into the hole for awhile, wondering what could be at the bottom, before I was reminded of my predicament by loud shouts getting closer every second. I looked around frantically for a place to hide when I had an idea. Right where the land ended, I scuffed up the dirt to make it look like I had been scrambling for a paw-hold before falling off the edge. I quickly shifted into human form and climbed into a tree, making sure I was hidden behind the leaves and branches. Already I could see lights flashing through the trees. I scanned the ground and stared hard at the footprints I had left by the tree. The dirt moved to cover the footprints, slowly at first than faster as I quickly got the hang of it. The last sign that I hadn't fallen over the edge disappeared a moment before five men came by, each one low to the ground and following my paw-prints. I smirked as they came to where I had "fallen".
"Looks like she went over the edge," one of them said while peering over the precipice.
"Dr. Rinsley isn't going to be happy," another groaned.
"We'd better get back to the lab and report this," the one who had first spoken sighed. As they disappeared into the trees I let out the breath I hadn't realized I was holding. Those five men apparently told the others that I was dead because no one came after me after that.

I perked my ears when I heard a howl coming from another part of the forest. Loping quickly towards the call I found Courtney waiting for me with a deer carcass lying next to her.
"The herd came by so I thought I would catch us something besides rabbits and mice," the black she-wolf with a red striped back spoke.
I smiled at her as I trotted over. "Sounds good to me. I'm getting tired of small-prey myself."
